Education
I earned my Bachelor of Arts with High Distinction and High Honors in Classical Languages and Literature from The University of Michigan in 1994. That same year, I was awarded the Frank O. Copley Prize in recognition for outstanding undergraduate work in Latin, and I won the Philips Classical Prize Latin Translation Competition. My honors thesis discussed the treatment of Briseis as both an epic and elegiac character in Ovid’s Heroides. I am currently pursuing a Master of Latin degree from The University of Florida.
Experience
Need help with Latin right away? I offer on-demand, customized, real-time Latin tutoring in the comfort of your own home! My online tutoring sessions are all live-time. We use voip (or old-fashioned landlines) to speak together. Our virtual chalkboard enables us to share, view, and and markup on any kind of media found in a traditional classroom. I have been teaching and tutoring Latin for over 10 years. I have experience with students from K-12, in both traditional and home-school settings. I have also had wonderful success tutoring college and graduate students. Some of the textbooks I've used include: Jenney's, Wheelock's, Cambridge, Ecce Romani, Latin for Americans, Oxford Latin Course, Henle, Latina Christiana, Lingua Latina (Oerberg), Lingua Latina (Traupman), and Latin for Americans. Latin Coaching is available for students who require more extensive assistance than can be found in a traditional tutoring environment. I am also experienced in preparation for both the SAT Latin Subject Test and the National Latin Exam.
