Experience
I attended Kent State University, where I graduated with a B.A. in French and English in 1993. I then re-enrolled in an undergraduate program and graduated with a B.S. in Secondary Education in 1996. After gaining experience working in the educational field, I returned to Kent State University and completed a master's degree in educational leadership. Upon completion of my postgraduate degree, I received licensure as both a principal and a superintendent. In 1997, I began my career as a teacher. Among the subjects that I taught were language arts, French, creative writing, and literature. I acted as the head of the department of Language Arts, where I would work and coordinate with the other teachers. I taught a total of seven years before becoming an assistant principal. I worked as an assistant principal for four years, then I became the first female principal at a local high school, which I worked at for five years. After working in the school system, I then transitioned into curriculum development.I truly enjoy being in the classroom. Helping prepare students for success, whether it's academic success or personal success, is very important to me. As a principal, I continuously improved the test scores of my students, as well as raised our school's performance index. I was also made educator of the year in May 2013.
